A Taste of Donegal

A Taste of Donegal Food Festival is now in its 11th year. This festival has proven to be one of Ireland’s most successful ‘Foodie’ Festivals with this years promising to be a bigger and better event. With large marquees to hold exhibitors, food tasting, celebrity chef and expert appearances, live masterclasses, family Entertainment, and much more erected on the Pier Area in Donegal Town. Between 25,000 and 28,000 people attended last year’s event and it is expected that this year’s Festival will be an even bigger success attracting thousands more.

A Taste of Donegal will feature more than 130 food exhibitors, including Artisan Food Producers, from across Ireland and the UK, as well as beer, gin and wine tasting, live music and a spectacular fireworks display over beautiful Donegal Bay. The official opening will be performed by the award winning Author and Chef Brian McDermott at 7pm on Friday the 23rd. He is Co Chef-Proprietor of the Foyle Hotel in Moville.

This year will see cooking demonstrations from top chefs Neven Maguire, Catherine Fulvio, Gary O’ Hanlon, Brian McDermott, Kevin Dundon and Maire Dufficey, as well as Whiskey, Irish Liquor, Gin and Vodka Masterclasses and Tasting from the Sliabh Liag Distillery, Coole Swan and Muff Liquor Company. Other chefs attending will include Anthony Armstrong, Martin Anderson, Christopher Molloy and Andrew McKee.

There will also be a competition, “A Passion to Inspire”, to crown the best chef in the area, as well as prizes for the best stand and best product and on the entertainment front, Adrian Cullen will perform timeless songs from Dean Martin. Others performing include Zara Montgomery, Mr Majestic, Mickey and Minnie and many more.

The Taste of Donegal Food Festival brings together both old and young to socialise, sample, taste and have fun. So come along, Discover, Dine and Delight in Donegal Town!
