Blossom Harp Festival 2019

The Blossom Harp Festival Weekend, now in its fourth year, takes place in Tuamgraney, Co. Clare on Palm Sunday Weekend. This will be a most enjoyable weekend of dance and music with something for the whole family. It will also have Harp, Fiddle, Concertina and Set Dancing Workshops.

As part of the weekend there will be a Harp-makers Exhibition, Sessions, a Concert, Ceilí and a Historical Musical walk.

The festival will be kick off with a Meet & Greet session in Nuala’s at 7.30pm on Friday evening followed by a Ceilí in the Bodyke GAA Clubhouse starting at 9.30pm with the Out the Gap Ceilí Band.

A series of Workshops will be held on Saturday with Registration taking place at 10am in the Parish House. The workshops and tutors will be for Harp: Laois Kelly, Fiana Ní Chonaill, Louise Marty; Fiddle: Manus Maguire; Concertina: Tim Collins and Set Dancing: Marie Mac Mahon. The venues for the Workshops will be given on the day.

The Festivals Gala Concert featuring the tutors will take place in St. Cronin’s Church commencing at 8pm.

Sunday the 14th will kick off with the Historical Musical Walk at 10.30am from Nuala’s pub. From mid-day until 5pm there will be the Harp exhibition at MacKernan Woollen Mill.

Also on Sunday there will also be a Harp Solo U18 (min. 3 years playing experience)  competition and Harp Ensemble (min. of 3 and max. of 6 members) competition. The Competitions will be held in St. Cronan’s which is one of the oldest church’s in Ireland. If you would like to watch the competitions, then please come to St Cronan’s Church.

The festival will finish with a session at Nuala’s on Sunday night commencing at 7pm.

With good food available in the village, this will be the perfect place to start your Easter holidays in the lovely historic village of Tuamgraney, between the mountains and the lake!
