It’s almost 25 years since Con Cassidy the great Teelin fiddle player left us. There will be a weekend of fiddle events in Teelin, Co. Donegal on the weekend of Fri 22nd to Sun 24th Feb.
The weekend will kick off in Coláiste Aoidh Mhic Bhricne – The Irish College on Friday night with the showing of various film clips of Con playing. This will commence at 8pm with a Music Session in the Rusty Mackerel afterwards.
Saturday will see Fiddle Classes running from 10am until 4pm in Coláiste Aoidh Mhic Bhricne – The Irish College. Cost per participant is €15 with registration commencing at 9.40am.
Then in the evening there will be a concert in Coláiste Aoidh Mhic Bhricne – The Irish College featuring Dermot Byrne, Martin McGinley, Maurice Bradley, Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh and other local musicians. The concert will begin at 8 pm with admission being €10pp. After the concert there will be a Music Session in the Rusty Mackerel afterwards.
The weekend will come to a conclusion on Sunday with a Music Session starting at 5pm in the Rusty Mackerel.
