Event Details

The 15th Cork World Book Fest continues to grow in range and breadth and readings by world class writers in a variety of settings with a cultural streetfair: book stalls, visual art, music, street entertainment, the spoken word, and more. This year the festival will be featuring world class writers such as Tess Gallagher, Kit de Waal and Salley Vickers along with Irish writers, John Boyne, Nuala Ni Chonchuir, Louis de Paor and Harry Clifton.

The Cork World Book Fest compliments other literary events in the city and region, but is quite different – putting readings and books on the street, for example. It is a participative, inclusive event, connecting readers with established and emerging Irish and international authors.

Participation is also encouraged through the numerous workshops that are held during the week. The literature in translation sessions showcase the role of literature in world culture while new Irish writing is supported by launching new work.

There will be some great Cork food to-go and some tasty produce as well so be sure to drop down to the Grand Parade and be entertained by words and rhyme.

Running over five days, with back-to-back events all day and evening on Saturday 27th April, concluding with a celebration of new books by local writers. This year there is a mixture of events for all ages and due to popular demand, there is a greatly expanded programme of workshops (all free) for budding writers and will feature an all day programme at Cork City Library.

The Cork World Book Fest is a joint production of the City Libraries and Triskel Christchurch Arts Centre, with the active support of the Munster Literature Centre.
