Ennis Trad Fest 2019

Ennis Trad Fest, is now in its 26th year and brings together the very best of Irish traditional musicians, singers and dancers in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. It is a fabulous mix of formal concerts, instrument master classes, a free session trail throughout the town, a céili, CD launches, sean-nós and set dancing classes, a trad disco, a traditional music quiz and a trad-4-teens programme.

The festival will kick off at 7.30pm on Thursday night with the official opening in The Sanctuary in The Queens Hotel and will be followed by some of the many CD Launches that will be happening throughout the festival. For details of the CD Launches visit ennistradfest.com

This years headline acts are as follows:

Friday night will see the Midnight Festival Club with The Jarlath Henderson & Ross Ainslie Band in action in The Queens Hotel. Tickets will be available on the door only at a cost €20 per head.

Saturday night concert will feature Moving Hearts. The concert will commence at midnight in The Queens Hotel. Tickets will will need to be purchased in advance and can be obtained from the Glór box office. The Concert will be followed by the legendary Ennis Trad Disco.

Sunday nights concert will feature 3 superb acts in the Old Ground Hotel, commencing at 8:30pm where you can see Liam O’Connor & Paul McGrattan, then Brighde Chaimbeul & Radie Peat and to finish Gatehouse. Tickets available on the door only at a cost €20 per head.

Monday nights concert which will wrap up the 26th year of the Ennis Trad Fest will feature Buttons & Bows & Brendan Mulvihill who will be performing in The Queens Hotel. This concert will start at 9pm with tickets available on the door at a cost €20 per head.

During the Trad Fest there will be a series of Masterclasses held on Saturday in Music Generation Clare, Station Rd, Clonroad More with registration at 11am. The classes will start at 11.30am and finish at 1.30pm.

The Masterclasses and Tutors will be Flute: Paul McGrattan; Banjo: George McAdam; Concertina: Cillian King; Fiddle: Liam O’Connor; Accordion: Josephine Marsh and Uilleann Pipes: Jarlath Henderson. The cost per student is €20 payable at registration.

Throughout the Ennis Trad Fest, there will be traditional music sessions occurring in venues all over the town. Participating in them will be some of Ireland’s finest musicians. These sessions will be happening at different times, day and night and are marvellous free entertainment open for all to attend. All musicians are invited to join in one of the many sessions.
