Event Details

The Feakle International Festival of Traditional Music celebrates the best of the Irish traditional music, especially the distinctive style of East Clare, with five days of traditional music, song, dance and theatre with workshops, lectures, concerts, ceili’s, set dancing, sessions and open-air events.

The Festival will be officially opened on Wednesday at 7.30pm in the Community Hall by legendary East Clare Musician, Seamus Bugler followed by a Music Recital with many of the talented young musicians from East Clare under the tutorship of Mary MacNamara. There will be a photographic exhibition in association with local film “Lakeside Stories” and a Food and Wine reception with everyone being welcome to this free event.

Workshops will take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings from 10am until 1pm. If you would like to attend one of the Workshops then you may book online before you arrive. You can enrol at the workshop venue from 9am onwards on Thursday 9th August or make enquiries at the Festival Office from 3pm on Wednesday 8th August.

The Workshops and tutors are as follows…

  • Fiddle: Martin Hayes, Andrea Palandri and Sorcha Costello
  • Accordion: Conor Connolly
  • Concertina: Tony O’Connell, Cormac Begley and Mary MacNamara (adults only)
  • Flute: Geraldine McNamara and Louise Mulcahy
  • Banjo: Páraic Mac Donnchadha
  • Guitar: Dennis Cahill
  • Tin Whistle: Gearoid McNamara
  • Traditional and Sean-Nós Singing: Sean Garvey
  • Sean-Nós Dancing: Suzanne Leahy
  • Set Dancing: Marie McMahon

Please note that a degree of competency is required for all instrumental workshops.

The prices for the Instrument and Singing Workshops are €25 per day or €60 for 3 days and for the Sean-Nós Dancing and Set Dancing Workshops it is €10 per day or €25 for 3 days.

Throughout the Festival there will be sessions in all of Feakles Pubs both during the afternoons and in the evenings.

The Festival Office is based in the Community Centre and will be open from 3pm on Wednesday the 8th of August. There you can get information, buy CDs, T-Shirts and book and collect prebooked tickets.

For events requiring an admission fee, tickets are available to purchase online at Glor and can be picked up at the Festival Office.
