Kanturk Arts Festival 2020

KANTURK ARTS FESTIVAL HAS BEEN POSTPONED. HOPING TO RESCHEDULE FOR JUNE 18th to 21st.  APOLOGIES FOR INCONVENIENCE. WILL CONFIRM WHEN UPDATE IS AVAILABLE.

This years Kanturk Arts Festival will take place in the small market town of Kanturk, which is situated in the ancient Barony of Duhallow. This Festival has grown enormously since its beginning in March 2009.

With new events added every year, the Kanturk Arts Festival is focused on nurturing and supporting the arts throughout the area. The Flash Fiction Competition has proven to be a very popular competition with entries coming in from all over Ireland, Britain, USA and Europe. With this year’s competition winners being announced on Sunday the 1st of March.

This years Official Opening will be by author and journalist Breda Joy and will occur in the O’Callaghan Toyota Showroom with a Cheese & Wine Reception starting at 7pm. This will also include the opening of the Featured Artists Exhibition and the presentation to the winners of The 2020 Flash Fiction Competitions & Kanturk Credit Union Schools Art Competitions.

As part of the Kanturk Arts Festival there will be a series of workshops. If you wish to attend a workshop then booking is essential as places are limited. The workshops are Floral Workshop in conjunction with Kanturk Flower & Garden Club and with Josie Leonard of Blooming Marvellous; ‘Breaking into Crime Writing’ with Kevin Doyle; ‘Drypoint Printmaking’ with Bríd Moynahan; ‘Drawing Workshop’ with Elayne O’Connor; ‘Crochet Workshop’ with Joan Lestor-O’Connell; ‘Children’s Painting Workshop’ with The Pencil Box School of Art and ‘Painting Extravaganza’ with Messy Hands for under 5’s.

Over the festival there will be something for everyone which will make for a most enjoyable weekend of festivities and enjoyment.
