Packie Duignan Festival

The 13th annual Packie Duignan Festival will take place starting on Friday 25th and running until Sunday 27th January in Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim. The Packie Duignan Festival is held on the last weekend in January every year with traditional music sessions on the Friday and Saturday nights in Drumshanbo’s pubs, Workshops on the Saturday and a Boxty Brunch on the Sunday morning.

Friday night sees the festival opening with sessions this year in Gunning’s Bar and Berry’s Tavern. These sessions are marvellous free entertainment which is open for all to attend. The sessions will commence at 9.30pm with all musicians welcome.

On Saturday, there will be a Flute Workshop tutored by Orla Ward in the Base Youth Cafe between 2 and 4pm. This will be for intermediate and advanced players. Later on in the evening there will be a Youth Session with Padraig Sweeney in Monica’s Bar between 7 and 9pm. Then to complete the night there will be a Flute Gathering in Berry’s Tavern commencing at 9.30pm.

The festival will conclude on Sunday with the popular Boxty Brunch which will get underway at 12.30 in Henry’s Haven, followed by a Slán abhaile session. Everyone welcome.
