Tradfest St Patrick's Events 2021

To celebrate St Patrick’s Week 2021, join TradFest online from March 18th – 21st as it celebrates St Patrick’s Week@Home with an incredible array of Irish artists and some very special guests from some of Dublin’s most stunning heritage venues. Five fantastic online concerts with some of Irelands leading trad and folk performers.

On Thursday 18th March TradFest will see A tribute to poet Derek Mahon this will be with Stephen Rea, Matt Molloy, Neil Martin, Brian Connor and Paddy Glackin with Brídín and Felispeaks. The tribute to Derek willl be hosted by Stephen Rea and will draw together some of Derek’s most loved poems including Alien Nation, A Fox on Grafton Street, Washing Up and Everything is going to be Alright. It will be coupled with music performed by Matt Molloy, Paddy Glackin, Brian Connor and Neil Martin, as well as harpist Brídín and new poetry by rising artist poet and performer Felispeaks. Filmed in the beautiful Newbridge House, this will be a very special night bringing together poetry and music. Streaming time for this event is 8PM Irish Time (GMT).

Friday 19th March TradFest sees two great concerts in one. Performing will be Frankie Gavin with Edel Fox & Catherine McHugh plus Sibéal. Enjoy these stunning performances from the beautiful setting of Newbridge House. Streaming time for this event is 8PM Irish Time (GMT).

On Saturday 20th March will be Phelim & The Drew House Band in concert, the theme of which is ‘Remember Ronnie & The Dubliners’. Streaming time for this event is 8PM Irish Time (GMT).

Then on Sunday 21st March it will be The Best of TradFest @ Home from Dublin Castle featuring a selection of the artists who played at the TradFest@Home concerts back in January, a celebration of all that’s best in Irish music today from the stunning State Apartments in Dublin Castle, including Dervish, Altan, Hothouse Flowers, Mairead and Triona Ni Dhomhnaill, Karan Casey, Mark Redmond, The Mulcahy Family, Mike Hanrahan, Aoife Scott and many more. Streaming time for this event is 3PM Irish Time (GMT).

Also on Sunday 21st March is Ireland in Music. The whole island of Ireland is a stage as some of the country’s finest musicians are filmed in some of the country’s most beautiful settings. Among those featuring: Denise Chaila and Sharon Shannon perform along The Cliffs of Moher, Clannad perform in Poison Glen, Gweedore, Lisa Hannigan in the bandstand at St Stephen’s Green, Wallis Bird in the historical Ardgillen Castle and The Stunning in the grounds of Trim Castle. This will be available to stream outside of Ireland only. Streaming time for this event is 8PM Irish Time (GMT).
