Traidphicnic, now in its fifth year, celebrates our vibrant culture and traditions. It will take place in the Gaeltacht village of An Spidéal/Spiddal and will run from Friday the 6th of July until Sunday the 8th July. As festivals go this is a unique festival in that Traidphicnic operates a ‘ticketless’ system with a ‘donate what you can’ ethos. So you are asked to value the festival and what the voluntary committee is doing and ‘donate what you can’ in order to help the festival operate. It is not a free event.
The Workshops in Music and Sean-nós song and dance at Traidphicnic have a cover fee.
Over the three days of Féile Traidphicnic there will be a whole host of events, ranging from live music, to arts and crafts, sessions, guided walks, sean-nós, and much, much more.
This is very much a family friendly event, with something for everyone, so along bring your own picnic and soak up the atmosphere of Traidphicnic.
Event times will be confirmed closer to the event. So for more information, keep on eye on the Féile Traidphicnic website at www.traidphicnic.com or Facebook presence.
An Spidéal a coastal village is in the heart of the Connemara Gaeltacht, so this is the ideal place to try out your Cúpla Focal. And given that the festival is in the middle of the Irish summer, please remember to pack your sun cream, midge cream and your raincoat!
