The Blossom Harp Festival Weekend, now in its third year, takes place in Tuamgraney, Co. Clare on Palm Sunday Weekend. This will be a most enjoyable weekend of dance and music with something for the whole family with Harp, Fiddle, Concertina and Set Dancing Workshops.

As part of the weekend there will be a Harp-makers Exhibition, Sessions, a Concert, Ceilí and a Historical Musical walk. Commencing this year, there will also be two new competitions, a Harp Solo and Harp Duet with any other instrument.

The festival will be officially opened at 9.30pm on Friday the 23rd in Nuala’s by the Mayor of Tuamgraney and will be followed by a session with Martin Moroney & friends.

A series of Workshops will be held on Saturday the 24th with Registration taking place at 10.30am at the Parochial House. The workshops and tutors will be for Harp: Michael Rooney, Holly Geraghty, Fiana Ní Chonaill and will be from 10.30am to 6.30pm. The cost will be €50 per person; Fiddle: Manus Maguire and will be from 11am to 1pm. The cost will be €20 per person; Concertina: Mary MacNamara from 11am to 1pm. The cost will be €20 per person; Set Dancing: Marie Mac Mahon from 7pm to 9pm at the Bodyke GAA Hall. The cost will be €10 per person.

A Ceilí will be held in the Bodyke GAA Clubhouse starting at 9.30pm with the Slieve Aughty Ceilí Band with Mark Donnellan, Charlie Harris and Jim Corry. If you do not fancy the ceilí then why not attend one of the sessions in the village’s pubs.

Sunday the 25th will kick off with the Historical Musical Walk at 10am from Nuala’s pub. From mid-day until 5pm there will be the Harp exhibition at the Parochial House.

If you would like to come and watch the Harp Solo and Harp Duet competitions, the come to St Cronan’s Church where the competitions will commence at 2pm.

The Gala Concert will take place in St. Joseph’s Church commencing at 7pm. The entrance fee will be €10. On stage will be Michael Rooney, Mary McNamara, Manus Maguire, Holly Geraghty, Fiana Ní Chonaill and the Blossom Harp Ensemble.

The festival will finish with a session at Nuala’s on sunday night commencing at 8.30pm.

With good food available in the village, this will be the perfect place to start your Easter holidays in the lovely historic village of Tuamgraney, between the mountains and the lake!
