Russell Festival Weekend

This traditional music festival, now in its 24th year is held annually in Doolin on the last full weekend in February. It is a remembrance ceremony to the Russell family, Micho, Packie and Gussie Russell, the world-famous traditional musicians.

The weekend festival has now firmly established itself on the traditional festival calendar as one of the earliest festivals of the year, and hosts some of the best of traditional entertainment. It attracts musicians from around the country. The theme throughout the weekend is one of celebration as it showcases the new and vibrant music talents of Traditional Music, Set Dancing, and Sean-nós, which attracts the growing audience for Traditional Music.

On Saturday afternoon The Russell Concert featuring Shaskeen & the Wingers will take place at The Russell Cultural Centre.

Workshops and concerts will take place in the Russell Cultural Centre with Traditional Music Sessions being held in Doolin’s Pubs and the Hotel Doolin throughout the weekend.
