The tenth Ballincollig Winter Music Festival brings together a fantastic mix of artists and events mainly centred around the festival hub at The White Horse.
The Festival kicks off on Wednesday, January 23rd at 8.30pm with the Delines. The supporting act will be John Blek. Also appearing at this years Festival will be The Grits & Gravy Stringband, Two Time Polka, Cathy Davey, Jerry Douglas and Greenshine. The 10th Anniversary Concert will feature special guests Andy Irvine, Dónal Lunny, Paddy Glackin & Lisa O’Neill. The closing concert will be Tim O’Brien & Jan Fabricius with support act Stayin’ Down Shoes.
The White Horse Guitar Club will be performing at the Cork Opera House on Thursday the 24th at 8pm.
A series of workshops covering Fiddle, Sean-Nós Singing and Contemporary Songwriting will take place at Gaelscoil Uí Riordáin on Saturday the 27th. They will commence at 10am with a finishing time of 1pm. There will also be a workshop covering Sean-Nós Dancing which will take place at The White Horse. Finishing times for the workshops may vary, please discuss with the relevant tutor on the day. The cost per workshop is €10. Tickets are available at the door but advance booking is recommended to guarantee a place.
During the festival Trad Sessions will be held in the Main bar at The White Horse. These sessions are marvellous free entertainment open for all to attend.
