Cahir Trad Fest is a weekend is filled with traditional music and dance. With many fantastic musicians and singers it includes a Concert, a Trad Trail, Competitions, Workshops and Pub Sessions over the weekend and is a family event not to be missed.
The opening of Cahir Trad Fest will be on Friday night with a concert in the Cahir House Hotel featuring Cahir Comhaltas along with the Workshop Tutors and Special Guests.
Saturday will see along with the Workshops, Street Session Competitions occurring followed by Evening and Night Pub Sessions. The Workshops being held at this years Cahir Trad Fest will be in Cahir Boys National School & Our Lady of Mercy Girls School.
The workshops and tutors will be for Accordion: Michael Curran; Banjo: George McAdam; Flute/Whistle: Michael Coney & James McCaffery; Keyboard/Flute: Mark McCrystall; Fiddle: Eugene McKenna & Therese McInerney; Concertina: Maura Walsh & Cliona Hally; Singing: Deirdre Scanlon.
A Traditional Mass will be held on Sunday at 11.30am followed by Street Entertainment and the Trad Trail. At 5pm there will be a session in the Cahir House Hotel and later on will see the Cahir Trad Fest Farewell Session in the Abbey Tavern.
While all the above events are taking place, there will be traditional music sessions occurring in most of the local Bars over the festival. These sessions will be happening during the afternoon & night and are marvellous free entertainment open for all to attend.
