Clifden Trad Fest

The 9th Annual Clifden Traditional Music Festival will take place this year from the 5th to the 8th of April in Clifden, Connemara, Co. Galway.

Festival highlights will include Trad Sessions in the Pubs, Opening Concert, outdoor Gig-rig on the Saturday night, Music and Singing Workshops, CD Launches, Street Entertainment, Youth Sessions and lots lots more.

The Festival kicks off on Thursday 5th April with a Seisiún na nÓg at 7pm in O’Malleys Bar in the Atlantic Hotel.  On Friday the 6th of April in the morning, the Scoil Mhuire Marching Band will be performing on the town square commencing at 11.30am. In the evening, the Official Opening and Concert will occur in the Clifden Station House Theatre at 7pm and will feature a host of artists from all over Ireland.

The 2018 Festival headline act will be “Back West” who will appear on the Gig Rig in the Market Square on the Saturday of the festival. Among the many artists playing at the festival will be 5 All Ireland Champions, Michael Curran (Accordion), Mark McCrystall (Piano), George McAdam (Banjo), Maura Walsh (Concertina) and Paul Clesham (Piano and Concertina).

Also appearing will be Liz Gaughan on fiddle, Brendan Quinn on flute and the Kane Sisters, Liz and Yvonne Kane on fiddles.
