Cross Traditional Music Weekend is an annual event that happens in the village of Cross which is located on the Loop Head Peninsula in Co. Clare. Over the weekend you can enjoy traditional music and dance.
The festival begins on Friday with a Trad Mass in the scenic Kilballyowen Cemetary at 8am. This will be followed by an Open Trad Session in Foley’s Bar which will run from 10 to 1pm with a welcome session for our musicians from Kildare and Dublin.
Saturday will start with an Open Junior Trad Session including Singing and Dance at 2.30pm and in the evening starting at 8pm there will be an Open Singing Session with singers coming from Ennis, Cooraclare and Doonbeg Singing Groups. After this there will be Trad Music and Dance Session featuring the Doohan Family with a Set Dancing Exhibition.
Sunday will commence with a Trad Mass in Cross at 11am. This will be followed with a Trad Breakfast in Foley’s Bar with Music, Song and Dance starting at midday. The weekend will come to a finish in the evening with music by Celtic Fusion starting at 7pm.
There will be Open Trad Sessions all weekend with everyone welcome. If you fancy, bring along an instrument and join in, or just sit and listen and enjoy the atmosphere and the craic!
