For over more than two decades, Féile Chois Cuain has earned an enviable reputation as one of Ireland’s premier traditional festivals with many of Ireland’s most revered performers returning to the festival year after year. Wonderful concerts, masterclasses from legends, lively sessions and a legendary warm welcome awaits all visitors to Féile Chois Cuain.
Friday sees festivities kick off at 7.30pm with a Youth Concert featuring local and visiting artists. Later on in the evening at 9.30pm in The Derrylahan, there will be a Cheese and Wine reception.
Saturday will see the Workshops/Masterclasses take place between 10.30am and 4.00pm. The Set Dance Workshop will take place in the Parochial Hall. Pádraig & Róisín McEneany being the tutors.
The Masterclasses will take place in Sancta Maria College. The classes and tutors are for Accordion: John Nolan and Fergus Bogue; Fiddle: Nathan Gourley and Caoimhe Kearins; Flute: Geraldine McNamara and Brian O’Loughlin; Tin Whistle: Cian Kearins and Teresa Tierney; Concertina: Mairead Hurley and Aileen Burke; Banjo: George McAdam; Guitar Accompaniment: Shane McGowan; Ballads: Ella Marie O’Dwyer; Sean-Nós Singing: Mairin Uí Chéide; Dancing Sean-Nós: Rónán Ó Riagáin.
From 4.15pm until 6.00pm there will be a Sean-Nós Session in the Parochial Hall with Caitlín Ní Chualáin, Pádraig Ó Ceannabháin, Antaine Ó Faracháin, Caitríona Ní Cheannabháin, Nollaig Ní Laoire, Máire Ní Choilm, Mary Ann Ní Cheannabháin, Nollaig Nic Aindríu, agus Traolach Ó Conghaile.
The Grand Concert will take place in the Parochial Hall at 8.45pm featuring John Nolan, Nathan Gourley, Brian O’Loughlin, Fergus Bogue, Geraldine McNamara, Noel O’Grady, Aileen Burke, Ella Marie O’Dwyer, George McAdam, Shane McGowan and a host of other artists.
Sunday at 4pm the Music of the Wild Atlantic Way concert will take place where a variety of styles from along the West coast from Donegal to Cork will be showcased. Amongst those taking part will be; Cian & Caoimhe Kearins, Mairead Hurley, Joe Carey, Máirín Uí Chéide, Ronan O’Regan, Christy Barry, Clíona Halley and Sean Garvey.
Later in the evening at 9pm there will be Céilí Mór na Féile with music provided by The Dartry Céili Band.
Monday will see the “Slán Abhaile” Sessions which will commence at 12.30pm in all pubs.
During the festival there will be Traditional Sessions occurring in all the pubs.
