Féile Strokestown 2019

This years Féile Strokestown kicks off at 8pm with a Tribute Concert to the late Maitin O Muiri on Friday night in The Percy French Hotel.

On Saturday in Scoil Mhuir there will be a series of Workshops held.  They will run from 10am until 1pm. The cost per participant will be €25 with family discounts available. The Workshops and Tutors will be for Accordion: Damien O’Reilly; Flute: Orlaith McAuliffe; Fiddle: Eileen O’Brien; Concertina: Liam O’Brien and Piano accompaniment: Dr. Geraldine Cotter.

On Saturday afternoon at 2pm in The Percy French Hotel the Flute Forum will offer a rare glimpse into the playing of some of Roscommon’s finest exponents of the flute. The players will demonstrate and talk about what makes Roscommon flute playing so distinctive and also so popular among flute players the world over. The panel will take questions from audience members. This promises to be a hugely popular event unique to Féile Strokestown. Following on from the Flute Forum there will be a number of CD Launches.

This years Féile Strokestown headline concert will be on Saturday evening where you will have the chance to see The Carty’s in Concert – Three Generations, John, James, James Jnr with guest appearance from John P. The concert will be held in The Percy French Hotel.

On Sunday afternoon in The Percy French Hotel you will have a chance to see a performance of the Songs and Stories of Percy French. This will be followed by The Joe Donoghue Memorial Open Fiddle Competition – Perpetual Cup and money prize.

During Féile Strokestown, there will be traditional music sessions occurring in most of the local Pubs. These sessions will be happening during the afternoon & night. They are marvelous free entertainment open for all to attend. Please visit feilestrokestown.com for details of the Session Trail.
