The most internationally recognised Irish festival after St Patrick’s, the Galway International Oyster & Seafood Festival returns to Nimmo’s Pier, Galway for the last weekend in September. Deemed one of Europe’s longest-running food extravaganzas, the Festival was launched in September 1954 and over the years has welcomed over half a million visitors, consumed more than 3 million oysters washed down with champagne and stout whilst listening to some of the best musicians in Ireland.
The Festival hosts events for the whole family to enjoy from Seafood Trails, the World Oyster Opening Championship, Street Parades, a Family Fun Day and Foodie talks & Tasting events in some of Galway’s best restaurants, Street Parades, Top Class Entertainment, Celebrated Hospitality, a masked Mardi Gras Style Gala Event which will happen at various venues throughout the city finishing up in the Marquee Tent, along with Family activities, Cooking Demonstrations and much more.
The Festival will open at 7pm in the festival marquee where you will experience an evening of eating, drinking, dancing and craic! There will be live music throughout the evening to get you up and out on the dance floor and when you need to break for sustenance you will have a mouth watering choice of oyster and seafood options, as well as a full bar.
