The Jim Dowling Uilleann Pipe and Trad Festival takes place in Glengarriff every year around the 3rd week in June with this years festival running from Thursday 21st to the 24th June.

This year will see the 7th running of the festival which has grown from its humble beginnings in 2012 to what is is today, one of the finest line-ups of traditional Irish musicians you will find at any festival around the country. Taking place in the pubs, hotels and restaurants around the village of Glengarriff, you will never have to far to travel to get to the music, whether it is one of the bigger concerts or the more informal Piping For A Pint Session Trail that takes place throughout the weekend. There are also special events and workshops that also take place around the village, so something for everyone.

The festival will commence on Thursday night with Mick O’Brien and Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh in concert in The Park Hotel at 8pm. Sharon Shannon will be on stage in The Eccles Hotel on Friday night at 8pm. Then on Saturday, Iarla Ó Lionáird and Steve Cooney will be in concert in Glengarriff Church at 9.30pm.

With ticket numbers for the concerts being limited, it is advisable to book online by clicking Tickets if you wish to attend any of them.

If you’re thirsting for some great trad music, then the Piping For A Pint Session Trail is the place for you. The Sessions were a big hit last year and 2018 promises to be even bigger and better with some great acts, including Ronán Ó Snodaigh, Liam O’Connor, Sean McKeon, Caoimhin Ó Fearghail, Tom Oakes, Katrin Nicoll, Cór Chúil Aodha, Brendan Ring, Niall Keegan, The Diviners, Emer and Tadge Twomey, Caroline Keane, Tom Delany, The Reel Women, Des Geraghty and TRODA.

For those interested, there will also be Uilleann Pipe and Music Workshops occurring during the festival.
