This years Kanturk Arts Festival will take place in the small market town of Kanturk, which is situated in the ancient Barony of Duhallow. This Festival has grown enormously since its beginning in March 2009.
With new events are added every year, the Festival is focused on nurturing and supporting the arts throughout the area. Last year saw the inaugural Flash Fiction Competition with entries coming in from all over Ireland, Britain, USA and Europe.
This year’s competition will be judged by award-winning writer, novelist, and poet, Nuala O’Connor. The winner will receive €200, the runner-up €100 and third place €75. Nuala will also be running a writing workshop on Saturday 16th March.
There will be Concerts, Art Exhibitions, Writing, Art and Craft workshops for all ages, a night of Drama, photography. In fact, something for everyone to make for a most enjoyable weekend of festivities and enjoyment.
