UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO CORONAVIRUS THIS YEARS KILKENNY TRADFEST HAS BEEN CANCELLED
Kilkenny Tradfest, now in its eight year, will present traditional music, song, dance and contemporary folk over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend at various venues across Kilkenny City.
The headline acts this year will include performances by Christy Moore; Leonard Barry, Declan Folan & Michael McCague; Zodomo; The Steph Geremia Trio; Andy Irvine & Paul Brady with Dónal Lunny & Kevin Burke; Kilfenora Céilí Band and Horslips with support by Reel to Reel.
Amongst the highlights of Kilkenny Tradfest will be the Bulmers Trad Trail, which features numerous free gigs spread around the pubs and venues of Kilkenny. These sessions/gigs are marvellous free entertainment open for all to attend.
During Kilkenny Tradfest there will be a series of workshops/masterclasses. The tutors will be for Accordion Masterclass: Máirtín O’Connor; Bouzouki Masterclass: Dónal Lunny; Fiddle Masterclass: Zoë Conway; Uilleann Pipe Masterclass: Leonard Barry; Bodhrán Workshop: Tommy Lanigan; Sean-nós Dancing Workshop (Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced): Tommy Stenson; Drumming Workshop (Adult): Jeremy Hickey; Samba Drumming Workshop: Jeremy Hickey; Fiddle Workshop: Declan Folan; Guitar Workshop: Michael McCague; Appalachian Folk Dancing to Irish Music Workshop: Alice Jones.
During Kilkenny Tradfest there will be a mixture of free and ticketed events, some of the free events require tickets.
