The South Sligo Summer School of Traditional Music, Song & Dance is an annual weeklong celebration of Traditional Irish Music, Song & Dance now in it’s 32nd year. Including Classes, Workshops, Lectures, Masterclasses, Céilí, Concerts, Recitals and Informal sessions.
The school was founded in 1987 to conserve and promote the rich tradition of music, song and dance of the south Sligo area. There is special emphasis on the old Sligo traditional style of fiddle and flute playing.
Participants at the South Sligo Summer School can expect excellent tuition in traditional music, singing and dance with Class sizes being kept small. All Classes are graded. With classes open to all ages and experience levels there is something for everyone.
The attendance fees are for adults are €120, and for children under 16 €90. The fee includes Classes, Interactive Talks/Workshops, Recitals & Sean Nós Dancing.
It does not include the Masterclasses (€20) or the Monday and Friday concerts (€10).
For those wishing to attend Classes or Workshops, registration will be at St. Brigid’s Hall on Monday July 10th at 8:30am until 10:00am, if not already pre-registered. Online Pre-Registration is available by visiting Registration.
